The Backpack Program
This provides food to help each child through the weekend when there's no food provided by the school. Over 50 families and well over 150 children rely on food to get them by until school starts each Monday in the Parkrose School District alone. Many parents must work over the weekend, so food we provide are items the kids can prepare themselves and of course, fresh fruit & vegetables. We are committed to taking care of our children.

We've all heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how important is it for students? Research suggests that the odds of an 11 year old student achieving an above average score in a test were twice as high for those who ate breakfast compared to those who did not.

Mental health is an important part of children's development process. Evidence shows that skipping breakfast is associated with low mood, irritability and fatigue. While eating breakfast is associated with better mental health, as well as increased concentration, enhances memory and provides overall better habits for the day.

Christmas Toy Drive
We routinely partner with KGW TV for providing gifts for local children.

Healthy Eats 4U2 Program
This program provided healthy recipes and all the ingredients to prepare, distributed weekly to our children in the Portland Metro area. The HE4U2 program is geared toward children, providing healthy recipes, all the ingredients to prepare, cost to prepare and a kitchen tool to keep each week. Our goal for HE4U2 was not only to get children to eat healthy, but get excited about preparing the meal, following instructions and budgeting. We were excited to have children make recipes from around the world and try ingredients they may never have had the opportunity to experience. Crossroads was the first in the country to offer this type of program (Due to funding needs, this program is temporarily on hold).
Veterans
We are proud to help our Veterans; we have partnered with DO Good, a non-profit organization that provides permanent supportive housing and low barrier emergency shelter to houseless veterans in Portland. CFB provides food once a week for our houseless veterans.
